Georgiana Havill was a co-founder in 1970 of a full-service, Emmy award-winning advertising and public relations agency in Washington, D.C. In the seventeen-person firm of professional staffers, her functions included client contact, campaign design, and producing copy for print and broadcast media. Havill Associates thrived and years later, was sold. Afterward, she was an interim editor for an education association; a book editor for several authors; a freelance writer; and a part-time copy editor for a chain of community newspapers. In 1992, she was appointed as a marriage celebrant with authority to wed couples within the Commonwealth of Virginia. After 26 years and nearly 5,000 ceremonies, she wrote about the more unique experiences and sometimes became a subject of stories, herself. Her main interests were sharing her love of the arts and organizing groups of 14-40 friends for the Kennedy Center plus taking them to other states for play festivals, ballet, and opera.
